    • Hot Topics for 2020

An overview of the hot topics for insurance internal audit in 2020, focusing as in previous years on new areas relevant to Internal Audit, recognising that regulatory, technological and social landscapes continue to evolve as does the role of internal audit in providing assurance and insight. IA teams need to be prepared to respond to a continually changing environment – developing the auditors and Internal Audit functions of the future.

  • Esther Stanhope - The Impact Guru
    • How to network when you hate small talk

Do you struggle with networking events and feel ‘fake’ when you have to ‘make small talk’? Don’t worry you are not alone.

In Esther’s masterclass you’ll learn how to work a room and break into conversations with people you’ve never met. You’ll also pick up tips on how to ‘sell’ yourself without feeling salesy, ‘work the room’ and feel more confident at conference-coffee time.

Think of it as the ‘science-bit’ behind successful networking.  No more over-the-shoulder-lookers, more creating meaningful business relationships without the awkwardness.

  • Andrew Pepper-Parsons - Head of Policy - Protect
    • Whistleblowing

A review of the key elements that make up effective whistleblowing arrangements, these will be referenced by 360 whistleblowing benchmarking looking at the three key areas of governance and leadership, staff engagement and operations.

  • David Alexander - Daart Solutions
    • Assurance Mapping- the Goldilocks moment

Assurance mapping is often mentioned as good practice by the Chartered IIA, the ICAEW and the professional firms but is still rare outside larger internal audit teams. David will outline how recent events, combined with experience from a series of EQA reviews, is putting assurance mapping back on the IA agenda for 2020.

Registration will be from 9.30 am and the Seminar will open with the Chairman’s address at 9.50 am. The morning will conclude with an open panel discussion session and will be followed by a buffet lunch.
