Quarterly update of current topical issues

The topics under discussion will include:

  • Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) – Developments and insight to date and considerations for Internal Audit
  • Update from the CIIA Chief Professional Practice Advisor linking the FS code to their work on corporate governance, culture and trust
  • IFRS 17 – General Overview of the new standard, its implication for firms and how internal audit can engage
  • Project Update from the GPDG

Registration will be from 9.30 am and the Seminar will open with the Chairman’s address at 9.50 am. The morning will conclude with an open panel discussion session and will be followed by a buffet lunch.

Liz Sandwith

Chief Professional Practice Advisor

Liz Sandwith is currently the Chief Professional Practices Adviser for the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors. In her role she is responsible for advising and representing the Institute on all matters relating to the professional practice of internal audit; on ensuring quality standards; and on technical issues. Liz is a non-executive director and chair of an Audit and Risk Committee for a Leeds based Housing Association and is also an independent board member and a member of the Remuneration Committee.

Liz has over 33 years’ experience in internal audit and risk management, her background is firmly embedded in internal audit and risk management. She has worked for a number of private and public sector organisations, helping to develop risk management and control awareness and has delivered training to internal auditors in the UK and internationally. Liz carries out training globally on behalf of global training provider aci Learning as well as the Chartered IIA.

Liz was the winner of the JJ Morris award in 2020.

 

Andy Scott

Andy has significant experience in the areas of risk and capital, Solvency II and asset-liability management. Prior to joining Hymans, he worked in the Insurance Policy Department at the Prudential Regulation Authority and within Legal & General’s Finance department.

Andy is a member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries’ Transitional Measure on Technical Provisions Working, as well as ILAG’s Financial Reporting Practitioner Group. He qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in 2012.

Ann-Marie is a highly experienced Senior Manager in PwC’s Regulatory Practice providing regulatory, conduct and compliance services to the insurance sector including Lloyd’s and the London Market. Ann-Marie’s experience over many years includes direct compliance roles as well as advisory.
